Thank goodness
FINALLY, a bona fide mortar crack fill product that is (1) actually grey mortar colored (no worries, the light grey darkens as it dries, after only 5 minutes or so), (2) actually IS a thin-set mortar with a bit of what seems to be an acrylic or adhesive binder, (3) looks good and blends well with the surrounding intact area. This stuff is pretty good, looks great and only has a slight learning curve, but that's because it is thick mortar coming out of a small tube rather than the product itself, which is high quality. Go slow, make sure the affected area is clean and dry, then try for a small even application. Flatten the line of mortar with a putty knife or other tool. Unlike with caulk, smoothing this product with a finger might disturb the line and pull up the product. At one point, I spent so much time trying to get a section of a cracks looking perfect that another section started to dry; just spritz a drying area and you're good again to work on it. If the tube clogs - that's what grainy mortar does - just massage the remaining liquified mortar in the tube. I ended up having to add just a tiny squirt of water into the tube (with a stainless marinade meat injector) after using about half of the product. With that, there was more than enough to do my job of fixing 6 small cracks in our old but otherwise still intact and nice-looking 40-year-old front stone steps, as well as 2 large areas on either side where some mortar had separated over the decades. Those steps lead to the front door and, of course, are the very first thing everyone sees, along with the cracks in the mortar and unsightly caulk I'd used over the years. I know my way around caulk, but no matter how expert the application, those products never were a color and texture match. Plus, exterior caulk eventually weathers, cracks and changes color - making the stone or brick repair look even worse. For years, I've bemoaned the terrible so-called crack filler caulks and wondered why no one made a product like this. I can see any homeowner or contractor finding uses for this. FYI: Our steps now look nice again and I've avoided the $4000 a stone mason quoted for a rebuild. Thanks, Quikrete. Have used your other products and this one is the same good quality.

It leaked out of the top of the tube while applying.
I bought this to fill in one little hole where a pool control wire entered my house but was no longer in use with wifi. The hole was right at eye level by my back door. Boy howdy, I cannot even FIND the hole anymore! It squeezes out easily and you can push it into the hole or crevice just by using the tip. It worked so good I ended up going around my entire house touching up any little cracks in the mortar. I only wish it was resealable so I could save it and use the rest of it; however I actually used most of it. It squeezes out easily, looks natural, and perfectly matches the color and texture of my house mortar. Great product!
