Do research before you decide to buy
I was looking for a basic, smart thermostat for our cabin so I could monitor the temperature over the winter in the event of heating issues or someone kicking the door in and it freezing inside; and also, because we turn the heat way down while not there, I could turn it back up on the way there and have it already warm when we arrive. As I read reviews on this thermostat, which I kept going back to when I reviewed others, it seemed like most complaints were about needing a "c" wire to the thermostat and Google not disclosing that. I can't speak to that as I'm not sure it's absolutely necessary, I knew nothing of wiring a thermostat to a furnace. I went into it though assuming I needed a "c" wire and researched different ways to do it. There were other complaints like displayed temperature inaccuracies, but at the end of the day I went with the basic Google Nest in sand color (looks pink to me). I'm glad I spent the time researching ahead of time and, so far, glad I didn't listen to the "don't buy this product" reviews. Does exactly what I want it to do, easy to use, displays perfectly accurate temperature, and was easy to install (again, glad I researched quite a bit and was prepared). Now for my install experience: Just for the record, my cabin furnace is heat only, so I only really needed 2 low voltage wires from the thermostat to the furnace. The existing cable had 3 wires however, one of which (the green one) was not hooked up at either end. FYI, take the advice of the "how to" videos and take a picture of the wire locations on the old thermostat before removing them, and make sure the furnace breaker is off too. The green wire, as I researched, is usually for operating the furnace fan separate from when it's on for heating or cooling, something I, and probably most people, don't use. The white and red wires were hooked to their corresponding letter coded (R&W) spaces on the thermostat and furnace. I had purchased a plug-in 24v transformer with a long set of wires, based on my previous research, to use as the "c" wire, which I learned supplies power to the thermostat. I intended on plugging it into a nearby outlet, running the wire alongside some doorframe trim, which would hide the wire, and into the wall behind the new thermostat. This, I think, would have worked just fine. I also learned though, from watching another "how-to" video just before I started the project, that all furnaces have a 24v connection space along with where all the other thermostat wires would go. So I just hooked the unused green wire to the "c", or 24v, spot on the furnace and to the "c" connector on the Nest thermostat. *The Nest comes with wire identifying stickers and I did label this wire on both ends to indicate it's now the power wire. Once the wiring was done, turned the breaker back on and followed the install directions from the Google Home app. The only minor issues I had was that the display was in Celsius, not Fahrenheit, and it took me awhile to figure out that this needed to be changed via the phone app, not the thermostat. There may be a way, but I couldn't figure that out. Also, was a little nervous because of the previous reviews I read when the initial temperature displayed about 4-5 degrees above the actual temperature, but by the time I cleaned everything up, it was right on. In Google's defense, it did indicate it takes a little bit to adjust itself. Very happy with it and glad I picked this one-so far anyhow.

What a Disaster!
Our house was built in 2003 and still has the original furnace. The Google compatibility test stated we were good to go. I pre-ordered the Nest and received it 2 days after it launched. I was so excited to get rid of our ancient thermostat. I installed it the same day! The Google Home app was really easy to use and walks you step by step through the install. I ran into an issue when I saw that our old thermostat wasn’t using a C (common) wire. There were three wires that weren’t hooked up. I went to the garage and opened up the furnace so I could look at the electrical panel. The same 3 wires were not hooked up to anything in there. I hooked one of the unused wires to the C wire on both ends (Nest & furnace). Boom! The C wire was recognized and we had constant power going to the Nest. Overall I love the look, the Home Screen displays the date, time, indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity. It’s easy to use with my Alexa Dot and does everything that we needed. We’re happy with it and would recommend it. Tip: check with your gas/electric provider they may have a rebate for buying a smart thermostat. We got $75 back!

Do research before you decide to buy
Within about 2 weeks of installation, this thermostat has already saved me big! I got a notice from it stating that my furnace had turned off unexpectedly many times and that I should check the unit for function. When I checked the furnace, I found that the previous owner of my house (purchased home in summer 2020 and had not used the heat until now) had never bothered to change the filter on the unit. This was causing a major airflow issue that could easily have caused premature furnace failure if left unattended. Thanks to the warning from this thermostat, I was able to fix the problem for the price of a new filter. Highly recommended!

Our 1st smart thermostat...easy install...sleek design
(Nest Thermostat 2020) Just wanted to write this review to hopefully help some of you. I had an older thermostat and decided to give this a go. I researched the "incompatible" systems with the thermostat and found that if you have a system that has a separate RC and RH setting then it will not work for you. I also read that a C-wire is preferred, though not necessary. So here is what I did 1. RC/RH separate wires (see Pic of thermostat wiring) When i pulled the cover off of my old thermostat I saw that it had separate Red wires. However, I went to my HVAC/Furnace to verify and found that it had been jumper-ed. If you'll note the pic of my furnace control board, there is only 1 R wire. Since that was the case I found that my system was indeed compatible with the 2020 version. Make sure you check your furnace wiring and not just the back of your thermostat. 2.C-Wire: I was lucky, but many of you are as well. a lot of thermostats are wired with a 5 wire run or cabling. All that means is that the C-Wire (which is usually blue) is probably just sitting there un plugged. In the pics you will note the blue wire. it's either wrapped around the base of the wires or simply loose in the thermostat. All I had to do was (turn off system, and place the wire on the control board screw labeled (C). Some of you may even have the wire wrapped around the base of your wiring but maybe and inch or two in the wall. Honestly, this can be done by anyone with a little bit of research. My system is running great. It took me a little longer to find the control board and wires. But it was well worth it. Not to dis anyone but "know what you're getting into" when you choose this install. 2 hours and 3 youtube videos later solved my issue. DIY is just that "YOURSELF" don't blame the equipment.

Already saved me money on repairs!
I use this to run the 5 ton unit I have for my shop. I am very happy with the setup, the Google Home app and the information the app provides. I did learn that I can not use this thermostat with the “nest” app. You must use google home. I ran it on heat using a 100 lb propane tank and with the app, I was able to figure out I use about 1 tank every 30 hours of heat. This will help me Keep an eye on it and make sure to swap tanks when needed. I didn’t learn till today that it has a “safety temperature” setting that will turn the unit on at a preset minimum and maximum temp. I had been running it at 50° due to that’s the lowest temp setting when on heat.... but safety temps will turn the unit on even when it’s set to “off”. So I now have my safety temp set to 37° to prevent freezing pipes. This made it 5 starts for me. I didn’t like being stuck at 50° and burning way more propane than needed as I am not in the shop often through the week. I will say the setup is 100% through the home app. Unlike the regular (more expensive) nest thermostat like I have in my house. This one directs you to the app soon as it has power. I now control both my nest thermostats through the Google Home app. The ability to know how much it has ran in a day, week or month, is invaluable to me!

Great help cleaning the blinds
Works great, pads trap dust well. Like how you can clean two rows of blinds at once, top and bottom. The extra sets of pads are great so I can change out the dirty pads to efficiently clean large sets of blinds all at once.

The sleeves slide off easily
They would be great but They are not set far enough apart for wood blinds! I gave it 5 stars because for the mini blinds most people have it would be great.... Not so great for the wooden ones like you see in Dr's offices etc...

Great help cleaning the blinds
Simple idea that works wonders for cleaning those dusty and grimy ole mini blinds. I made a solution of Pine Cleaner, dipped and cleaned those dirty little buggers. Now I can dust them periodically to keep them clean. Handy little thing. Takes time, but you don't have to bother taking them down and putting in the tub and scrubbing and rinsing. My blinds will now stay clean.

Practical And Works!
I got so tired of using rags or a swiffer to try to clean these. I couldn't get the entire blind clean or dust would go everywhere. These are just the right fit for our 2" faux wood blinds, Easy to use and comes with extra pads. I definitely recommend these. Please be sure to read what type of blinds recommended for the duster(s) you're shopping for.

Fits larger blinds not just mini blinds.
These are perfect! I have the big wooden blinds and this makes it so easy to clean them! My only complaint is that my hand cramps up after using them for awhile because you have to squeeze it while you go over the blinds. But they collect a TON of dust! I’ve washed them with normal laundry several times and they’re holding up very nicely!
