Tastes exact!
It really turns in an authentic Japanese style cuisine. The taste is fantastic. This is an easier way to make dashi soy sauce in cooking. Much more subtle flavour, and no bitterness, great for veggies, salads and everything in between including all the Asian foods we eat.

It is so flavorful
The dashi soy sauce has some amazing flavors. It is very nice and the cartoons make it easy to use directly from the pack reducing the spilling. The dashi soy sauce brings out the flavors in my Japanese dishes and is really amazing. It also makes a nice soup. The flavors of fish and kelp in the dashi soy sauce are amazing.

Where has this stuff been all my life!?
This stuff is really quite wonderful - I made a shrimp/noodle soup tonight that was rich, smooth and delicious. The secret of course was this miso. It's not only an easy way to provide that authentic restaurant taste to Asian style soups, but I'm finding the nutty, almost sweet flavor adds depth and richness to sauces too. It's not foreword like the darker miso, and if you're new to using miso in general this is absolutely the place to start. The mild flavor and its versatility make it absolutely perfect for a first-timer. Honestly, you can't mess this one up. A little can go a long way and it wonderfully compliments almost any savory dish.

Light, sweet miso is an improvement over "typical" salty miso, but -
This miso tastes great and I love that I don't have to purchase a huge tub of it. The smaller package is great for someone who uses miso on a semi-regular basis, but doesn't want to store a huge amount in fridge while you figure out what to do with it all. The packages always arrive in good shape; I've never had one arrive damaged or punctured in any way. The pouch also makes it easy to measure, you just squeeze out the amount you need.

Where has this stuff been all my life!?
I'm almost out of this and plan to reorder once it is gone. To make miso soup, you need dashi stock as well (which I didn't realize until AFTER I bought this miso) but once I got all the ingredients together, making homemade miso soup became just as easy as making the powdered prepackaged ones. I like being able to control the amount of miso, dashi, and other ingredients (mushrooms, seaweed, tofu, green onion, etc).

Nice, smaller package
This miso is great and I love the deep dark flavor this miso has. I use it to make honey miso salmon and chicken and it is amazing. I usually use the white miso but decided to give this one a try and I am glad I did. With it being made with brown rice it has a super nutty flavor that just goes so well on chicken. I loved it and the flavor it gave. I will be buying more of this to try in other dishes as well. I also love the packaging too. It comes in a convenient squeeze tube like apple sauce so it makes it easy to portion out how much you want and then reseals to be put in the fridge and it doesn't take up a lot of room. Great product with great packaging.

Homemade miso soup!
I am a fan... I use this mostly to make my vegan cheeses but I am going to incorporate in other recipes, because I really love the flavor of it. I cannot compare to other brands but I really like this for what I make.

Wonderful Miso
I lived in Nagasaki prefecture on Kyushu Island, Japan, for almost four years. I learned to love authentic miso during that time. After moving back to America I found it difficult to find miso that tasted authentic let alone miso that didn't have a bunch of junk on the ingredient list. This miso is very authentic and is not chalked full of trash ingredients just: Water, Rice, Whole Soybeans, Sea Salt, Sweet Potato Syrup and Sugar Cane Alcohol. This miso is very warm with that textbook "umami" flavor. It is a little sweet, but the sweetness does not harm the warm flavor. The packaging was very solid. I bought it for a Japanese meal on camping trip and it endured several miles on water, on trails and general rough treatment. I combined this with some dried shiitake mushroom, dried wakame sea veggies, ahi tuna pouches, rice noodles and some bonito fish flakes and the dish was amazing as a camp meal! I hope this helps you make an informed decision! ~Mahalo My only gripe is a minor one because I am a cheapskate... The price per ounce is a little high for my blood. I would only get this on a special occasions.

I never had miso before this purchase...
Convenient, tasty, easy to use, and a good price. I purchased to make a soup from the Thug Kitchen cookbook (if you don't have the Thug cookbook, you should, it's good). The recipe calls for Red Miso, but a friend suggested we start with this since it was our first Miso experience. It is delicious. I've made the soup several times now and am looking for more recipes to use this in. I love that it is small and I can just keep it in the fridge without taking up a lot of space.

Miso snobby but I love this miso
If you're already a fan of lighter miso and/or sweet miso, this is likely for you. If you are looking for that salty umami flavor, this isn't it. Should seem clear enough given they do tell you that (user error on my part) but I had no idea how light this stuff would really be. What's great is you don't have to have a huge tub of miso to make soup. However if you're more keen on that salty umami "meaty" flavor, this would probably suit you much better in dressings or mixed into another broth. It's very good, just light and sweet (like it says!) Not what I was expecting but that's not on them haha

It's definitely light, delicious but be aware
Great for soup! Recipe below not authentic, but quick and easy from Minimalist Baker: For 5-10 servings (depending on main vs app) 10c veg broth 2.5 sheets seaweed in 1in squares 3 bunches green onions, diced Enough chopped collard greens to add up to 2.5c w onions Whole pkg muso from Japan smart miso, light sweet, 5.2 oz Whole pkg cubed firm tofu, 8oz

Where has this stuff been all my life!?
If you occasionally use miso, but want to keep it on hand, this packaging is very sturdy and convenient. While a larger bag can get a bit crusty in the fridge over time, the applicator nozzle on this one makes it easy to keep things neat. The taste is very nice, mild and not too salty, a bit sweeter than Eden's Shiro Miso but similar in color.

Light, sweet miso is an improvement over "typical" salty miso, but -
It is a bit mild, and I was looking for a much more "in your face" miso... It's likely to be more high-grade - but I have american tastes so I need to get hit over the head with flavors... That's not what this does. It's a delicate balance when I'm looking to get slammed with MISO flavor. My tastes may 'grow up' and this will be perfect...

Very good Miso!
The white miso tastes delicious! I used it in homemade dressing last night alongside other ingredients like lemon juice, tahini, sesame seeds, water, salt and pepper - it was very tasty! Also, I like how the expiration date is at the end of this year. I always look at expiration dates for freshness of products. Very happy with this order!

Too Mild
I usually buy Mister Miso, which is stronger in flavor than Muso. The difference, I would say, is like a sharp Cheddar compared to a mild Gouda. Both are stronger than white miso. As to economy, Muso yields 10 servings of 15 grams each, while Mister Miso gives 45 servings of 10 grams each. Muso comes from Japan, while Mister Miso is made in Bryson City, North Carolina.

Taste Delicious!
This miso is delicious, not salty like the other ones I have purchased. I definitely recommend this if you want a unique sweet and slightly smoky flavor. I added this to mushroom broth and to a cauliflower pilaf. It's my understanding if you want the benefit of the fermentation that you do not heat this, so I added it after I heated the broth and the pilaf. Tasted gourmet.

Milder dark miso, somewhat expensive
I love all three of their flavors! I'm a huge fan of miso soup for breakfast but I live somewhere where we don't always have power. I stopped buying miso for a long time because it would always go bad. This one is great because I can travel with it and I tend to use it with in a few days so I don't have to worry about it fermenting more in my fridge. The dark misonos my favorite but I keep all three on hand at all times!

Great product for people who don't want to waste
I enjoyed this in a recipe for noodles. It has a mild earthy flavor and just the right amount of salt. This is something I do not use too often for cooking so it's a good amount to store in the refrigerator. It's about the size of one of those kiddie apple-sauce pouches. I thought the price was reasonable considering that I would run all over town to find this otherwise.

Japanese boyfriend asked me to buy more
miso can be used for more than just soup. just do a search. try adding to mayo or dijon mustard, or making a glaze for roasted veggies.
