    Cleans out so well
The vacuum cleaner is one of a kind. It cleans so nice and well, not even a particle of dust can be found. It is removes out fine pet hair and takes out allergen dust particles very nicely. The handle of the vacuum is detachable for easy cleaning of the furniture and other materials. It cleans out stair cleaning in such a great manner, loved it.

    Good quality suction pump
Best vacuum cleaner i've ever owned. It has a good quality metal body and it is well built, very easy to use. I love the fact that it makes minimum to no sound, very useful, and it definitely helped easen the cleanup process a lot more than before. The suction pumpis long enough to reach the ceiling too! .

I like how it makes very little to no noise. I have never purchased a better vacuum cleaner.
It's a unique vacuum cleaner. It cleans so thoroughly that not a single speck of dirt can be detected. The vacuum's grip can be removed for simple cleanup of furnishings and other items. It has a high-quality metal frame that is well-built and simple to operate.

    Powerful little vacuum.
Pros : This is a very powerful little vacuum, good on dog hair too. Easy to move around. The wand is very easy to take out and use. Cons: The power cord is short, it should have at least another 10' to it. I have to replug in in every room I move too. Also, the collection container is small too and a little difficult to get all the dirt out. Overall, I bought this due to Consumer Reports giving it a top rating. For the price, it's great and does the job.

    Truth in advertising.
I bought this particular model after researching on Consumer Reports and finding it rated very high compared to the other models I was looking at purchasing. I have only used it for a day, but have found it to be a great vacuum. It is a little heavier than my old vacuum and has a more powerful suction. The suction control is in a very strange place and took me a minute or two to find. The suction is awesome compared to my current vacuum. The Kenmore is amazing on my hardwood floors, one swipe and I am done. My other vacuum took a few swipes. However, I do use it on bare-floor mode to vacuum my rugs, otherwise you need to nail the rug down. I like that you can detach it and carry it for vacuuming stairs, behind furniture/appliances or ceiling fans. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

    Powerful little vacuum.
Hold On To This Thing! It's nearly self-propelled! The combination of the powerful brush and the insane suction actually Fluffed my berber carpet. After ten years living with dog and numerous do-it-youself rug cleaners, my carpet just stayed matted and grungy. After using a carpet cleaner again and vacuuming before and after with my old vacuum, this Kenmore was able to not only extract more dirt & hair but pulled the carpet up and made it softer. It does grab a hold of smaller runner rugs but you can adjust the suction level. The brush runs fast but won't destroy a low pile rug like berber and it probably works amazing on a medium pile carpet too but I would keep it away from deeper, shag like carpets or anything that's delicate. Very easy to control, not overly loud, lots of attachments tho they don't all fit on the unit so you're forced to store them elsewhere until needed. I'm no engineer but I think with a few plastic tweaks, everything can fit. It is by far the best vacuum I have ever operated.

    Kenmore
We had an old Hoover self propelled unit that was no longer self propelled, it had all the attributes of a German Panzer with broken tracks. So finally I made the purchase of a modern engineered vaccume cleaner with 2 motors that made me wonder why I was too cheap and waited so long. One motor for suction and one for the bristle brush should be an industry standard since two small motors get the job done on carpet very well. This light weight machine pulls you along with the brush beating dirt into submission and the motor for suction is also exceptional at the one job it is entrusted to do. Add in ease of use and a clean dump of the picked up contents and I would happily purchase this again if need be..... I wouldn't hesitate and neither should you right now if you have been waiting for some kind of divine inspiration like I was.

    Amazing!
Ok look. I have 3 German Shepherd dogs aka German shedders, and they live up to their reputation. I’ve had dysons and sharks and bissels previously and this is my first ever Kenmore. This review is specifically for the Crossover lift off version because they lump different vacuum versions into the same review bucket (whyyyyyy-totally skews review ratings). Anywho…I despise sweeping. Like despise despise. I have always preferred my cheapo bissell carpet scrubber to any vacuum I’ve tried. This vacuum ROCKS! I assure you my house has never been so clean. I misplaced the instructions when unboxing so it took me a few minutes to figure out where to plug the hose into…but other than that it literally just snapped together and was the easiest thing Ive ever assembled. Kudos Kenmore. I LOVE the little cord clippy thingy that holds the cord up at the top of the canister. Who knew I needed that in my life…but I do. It. Is. Heavy. I’m middle age (ouch) in good shape and I’m glad the vacuum basically drives itself forward lol. I only feel it on the pulling back but I like to tell myself I’m working on my Michelle Obama arms so it’s all good. I’m actually moving furniture I enjoy sweeping so much. It does make what I think is a strange noise but what do I know how it’s supposed to sound. The pet tool was also awesome and those things usually suck. I had to hold the dog bed sheets so it didn’t get sucked up…suction is that awesome. I went over my area rugs and I had to shut off the brush roll…def loved that’s just a foot tap button. I have now vacuumed two days in a row. Maybe it’s this new found recognition of my middle age-ery or this awesome vacuum. 12 paws!

From old school to new cool
I loved it from the minute I began using it! Powerful suction, simple to use tools, super handy separation of canister from base for jobs where base and brush roller is not needed. Please read the quick start booklet that comes with it because it will explain in short order exactly how to use the vacuum, separate the hose, separate the want, etc. I have found that the vacuum will shut down when the large padded filter at the top of the dustbin is getting dusty and filled with fuzz type stuff - just take out that filter and brush it off, then keep vacuuming! This particular filter is supposed to be washed and then dried for 24 hours before use but I find that so I can finish my job, I can knock out the junk and finish up.

Who knew I could like sweeping?!?
Love this vacuum!! I had a Dyson Ball Animal for only 2 years, and the suction on the hose started going away (NOTHING was clogged in it). Then, the other day, the motor just burned out. I bought this as a replacement. I like it so much better!! The hose is longer and the suction is WAY better. The ONLY reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because only the crevice tool fits on board. The pet tool and bigger brush have to stay in the closet until you need them. Not affecting performance, but it does make it a little annoying. Overall, though, this vacuum is great!!

    this is a great vacuum!
Picked up a throw rug. This thing seriously gets stuff out of our heretofore dirt-retention carpets. It comes with great ratings on every site I checked, and I can see why. It's heavy duty so it's on the heavy side, but very solidly constructed with a well-placed carry handle. As an upright it feels unwieldy in some tight places, though you can use just the hose and attachment heads where needed.

    Better than my old Dyson
This is a very nice vacuum, however, I find it too heavy for myself. I am 75, and have lost much strength, so can't really blame the vacuum. I probably should have sent it back, but like I said, it works well just wears me out lifting it when necessary....haven't figured out how to release the canister part for using hose with extensions...even with the booklet. So, judge for yourself.

    It sucks. Seriously. : )
UH-MAZING! We had been searching for a new vacuum because our small one died. We needed one that would get the dog hair from our 75lbs Pit/Heeler mix out of our carpets. Oh my god when I tell you this thing is amazing, I'm not exaggerating. After one use, our carpet looked cleaner than when we first bought this house about 8 months ago. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with pets.

    Great value!!!
Overall, the vacuum cleaner works very well. The power brush can swivel left-right, making it easy to get into tight spots. Performance seems good, and the dirt sensor light is helpful. A few minor complaints: The canister module is very loud, with an irritating whine. (But at least it creates a strong air flow.) The dirt sensor light seems to have a delay before turning off. It comes on quickly but then remains on for a few seconds even if there's no dirt flow, so it means one continues to vacuum already-clean spots. A shorter off-delay would be better. The cord rewind mechanism is so weak that one must hand feed the cord into the machine; worse, the cord is made from a very stiff material so that when it's unwound it forms stiff tangles that pull the plug out of the wall socket before the cord will straighten out. I've left the cord unwound for over a month in hopes that it will relax, but no luck. The specified cloth HEPA bag seems too large for the canister, so one must fold it over on itself to get it to fit. (However I found that when the "bag full" light comes on, I can take the bag out, shake the dirt down to the folded-over parts of the bag, and be able to use the bag for a while longer before the light comes on again.)

The attachment that was provided does a great job and more than meets my expectations
Sears progressive vacuum cleaner arrived today. I’ve had a Sears canister vacuum or have used one for more than 40 years. The new one seems to have much suction, the hose is longer, and the “wand” is longer. The suction control on the new vacuum is a speed control on the motor not just opening a hole in the vacuum wand, like the old model. I thought the wand was plastic but Sears website says it is aluminum I guess that would explain why it’s so light weight compared to the chrome steel ones that I had before. There is still a lot of plastic which is what gave out on my old sears canister vac. The wand is extendable which I see as a possible point of failure, I don’t really see the point of having to extended when a solid fixed length would be great for me. The handle with the power switch is plastic. The model that is about 8 years has a metal wand and a metal tube coming out of the handle with the switch. One feature on the old model that I really like is the 45° bend in the hose where it attaches to the canister power unit. Previous sears canister vacuums I’ve had did not have the 45° bend where it attaches to the canister and it would easily roll over when you pull the hose. Also the bend takes the force off of the hose when you pull the vacuum. When you pull the vacuum by the hose now you’re pulling against hose where comes out of the vacuum. With the 45° angle elbow from the vacuum you were pulling on the elbow not bending the hose. It is a little bit louder than the older sears vacuum. The older progressive vacuum has the date written on the bottom of March 2010, so it is about 8 years old. It has survived a long-haired dog and a shorthaired dog. The new vacuum is very similar in design as the one I have that is 8 years old. One point of failure on the old powerhead was the small piece of cord that comes from the wand into the powerhead. I cut this out and replaced it with a piece of lamp cord to continue using the vacuum cleaner. I thought I would be able to use it this way until I realized many pieces on the old vacuum wand and head have cracked. The hose had started to collapse in a couple places, many plastic couplings for the hose attachment and power cord were cracked and broken. The new vacuum will not go underneath the couch all the way like the old one would. The old wand when attached to the powerhead would turn completely flat and go underneath the couch as far as you could reach. Pictures comparing the old and new. Reaching under the couch, the hose ends, the powerheads, and the canister vac itself really pretty obvious which one is old and which one is new.

Very pleased, with a few caveats
Wonderful features. This is the 7h Kenmore canister vacuum I've purchased in 25 years. (I gifted 2 of those). Back in the late 90's the equipment was heavy but packed with convenient features and it was love at first purchase. Over the years the plastic got lighter and lighter and on a few occasions parts broke, so I did look for more hefty alternatives, but always ended up with a Kenmore canister. This generation is more substantial feeling and appointed with all the features I can't live without anymore. This model comes with extra long retractable cord, on board tools, self propelled lighted power head that fits under furniture and beds, telescoping wand with lighted end, separate powered pet hair attachment for upholstery, hepa filter ...and last but not least ...designed for disposable bags. Unlike the bagless type, NO more choking on dust and spreading dirt back into the room when you empty. I used to have a cleaning business and would bring my vacuum and because there were 2 of us we often also used the one in place in the house. I found the Kenmore canister superior to Shark, Bissell, Hoover and even Dyson. It has superior features to the outrageously priced Meile, which feels like a 20 year investment, and although 5 years is about average life expectancy for the Kenmore

    Great value!!!
I LOVE this vacuum! For the price, it does the best job picking up dirt and pet hair. I have a rabbit and a very fluffy dog, which translates into a lot of fur around the house. This vacuum does a great job picking up all that pet hair. There's a reason it's always a recommended vacuum by Consumer Reports. This is my second Kenmore canister vacuum--I previously had a much older model, which was a hand-me-down and lasted approximately 15 years until the power head had an electrical issue. I used a hand-me-down Dirt Devil for 2 months, but my house just got dirtier and dirtier. Finally splurged on this new Kenmore and am SO happy I did. The new vacuum is definitely a little less solid than the older one, but it's still a great vacuum. I followed others' advice and kept my old attachments. To me, the most marked difference between the old and new attachments is the upholstery brush attachment. I use that to get pet hair off the couch, and I quickly had to revert back to the old brush, which was wider and does a better job picking up hair. I think maybe if I were buying this vacuum for the first time (i.e., didn't have old attachments to keep), I would have to get the 600-series instead of the 400-series for this reason. Still, I am so happy with my purchase. I strongly believe that this is the best vacuum for carpets and hard floors within this price range. I read on Consumer Reports that it even outperforms the "high-end vacuums," which is no surprise.

    The best value-for-price
Besides using the vacuum for normal floor cleaning, you can easily clean the edges and corners of your room with the Kenmore 81614 canister vacuum cleaner. This Kenmore canister vac combines the affordable price, quality and performance in a unit that are design for all-surfaces cleaning including the pet hair This is a 2-motor system that comes with powerful suction power (12 amps) and you can use it to clean all types of floors including bare floors, carpets and dog hairs. The vacuum cleaner is provided with adjustable suction power and can be used according to the type of material or surface being cleaned. You can reduce the power for delicate carpets, furniture and so on. It is designed such that the airflow is strong and consistent throughout the cleaning process. I Include this as if you have the suction on LOW you might think the thing is broken The cleaner is provided with HEPA filters unlike some of the other filters which are available in the market. HEPA filters help in getting rid of allergen and irritants which can cause asthma and other respiratory problems. It is especially useful for people prone to respiratory issues. The machine comes with 28″ long power cord length and it has auto rewind. To extend the vacuum reach, you can use the accompany telescopic wand. The integrated bare floor nozzle helps in cleaning the hard floors off the dirt and dust easily. A Pop-N-Go floor brush can also help you save more time when switching the cleaning from carpet to hard floor. The vacuum cleaner has an easy grip and can be used for above floor cleaning of even the staircase. The suction control on the handle can let you easily adjust the power suction needed while cleaning different surfaces. The effectiveness and popularity of canister vacuum cleaners push the Kenmore company to provide several great series of canisters that will be a cut above the rest. This is to convince their potential buyers to buy their product over the other. you WILL not get a vacuum with better designed, more powerful, and reliable machine at this PRICE. and for me that is the keyword PRICE.

    Classic styling, modern clean
Love the features and it feels of quality. Its suction is very powerful and pulls all the dirt out the thing holes in our travertine tile. It's very quiet on low suction. You can have a normal conversation while it's running. It's easy to use. Retractable cord, the attachments are convinient to get too and simple to attach. I found the crossover head very convenient to connect/disconnect. You just have to get a feel for how it connects a few times. You insert down and in towards the front of the brush roller, then click the backside down in. Very straight forward. The dirt light is accurate and useful when it detects something you can't see. The inducer motor is variable speed rather than blowing off air to reduce suction like other vacuums. The wand is adjustable. I love the vacuum. The only downside (other than the typical challenges of using a canister) I found was it's poor handling over high pile rugs. If you don't have one it's a moot point. The powerhead is extremely difficult to roll/push over high piles, even on the highest roller setting. To overcome this I have to lower my arm to reduce the handle angle, so that I'm pushing less into the rug, but more parallel to it. That's the only reason I subtracted a star. This vacuum is way more value than any German make. It's definitely the best canister vacuum in my opinion.

    The Quality Is Apparent
First, I’m a fan of canister vacs. Second, I have owned this model for 4 years. I had the opportunity to give it to someone who really needed a vac. I searched for a replacement but came back to this model because of my positive experience. Pros: reliable, dependable, sturdy, usefulness of onboard tools especially the pet hair attachment (I have 3 Siberian Huskies), the “crossover” feature which quickly detaches the hose from the beater brush, adjusts to a variety of rug/carpet piles, easily portable Cons: wish it had a larger vacuum bag capacity
