Nothing like an acid bath for your face.
I have really oily skin and to get it off I need a facial cleanser with Salicylic acid and this does the trick. If heavy make-up, work place oil, grease and grime are a problem this stuff will remove it. You might need to use a light scrub soap to take off the excess material after using the Neutrogena if you have a lot of flaking. Neutrogena Acne Wash can be hard on the skin, this product doesn't fool around and will leave your skin very dry so it is absolutely necessary to use moisturizer right after you wash your face or you will be left with a dry flaky face. It also works well on arms and shoulders, but I wouldn't use it as a whole body wash. Overall it is a great product for those with oily skin.

I may spend over 200 bucks on my face cream, but I will never use another face wash. I’ve been using this for about 4 years now. I have normal to combination skin, 35y, live in Texas. This classic wash will wash every ounce of makeup off your face, and strip any makeup remover oils as well! Esthetician’s typically hate this wash bc it will definitely strip even your good face oils- just make sure to replace the moisture. You’ll want to use a toner or hyaluronic then moisturizer immediately after- especially in the winter or in a dryer climate! If you have super oily skin and have trouble getting your pores to shrink up a bit this is perfect- my bf uses this as well and it helps his skin! I may have other face washes I use from time to time- but I will ALWAYS have this.

Gets rid of acne very quickly but with a cost
You’d think when you hit your 40s you’d be done with acne. Let’s just say nope it comes back. Anyhow after several failed producers even proactive I found success with this one. Your Acne will appear to worsen during the first 2-3 weeks because you are scrubbing away dead skin and opening the pores. But it will begin to clear. I have been very pleased with the results. The smell is a bit strong for me and don’t get it in your eyes because it will burn like crazy but other than that no complaints.

A classic for a reason!
I’ve been using this product for many years. I’ve always had a problem with acne, and I find, no matter how much I take care of my face, if I neglect to use this product, for a number of days, I get breakouts. (I kid you not) I have read several reviews on here, that says that the face wash is drying on the face, this is true, however, it is imperative that you moisturize after. I would suggest also, for those of you who have breakouts/acne issues on their back, or other parts of their body, to try this product as a body wash.

I am very happy with this
I am very happy with this. I have “matured” skin. Some “cleansers” don’t feel like they do much but this one does and doesn’t leave my face feeling dry. I do however put hyaluronic acid serum on immediately after and highly recommend everyone do that regardless of age or skin condition. I’m finding out the difference in products that actually WORK vs sub quality products. I’ve done TONS of research. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a quality product. Just have to do lots of research. So I’m passing this along to you in hopes it saves you money and time. ??

I am very happy with this
I love this stuff.... why? It ACTUALLY hydrates, go figure! Don’t you just love when products dovwhat they say. At night when I’m super lazy and don’t wanna go thru my whole face routine which ends with a mirror of water splashes, ugh. I pump this magic gel in my hand, rub my face- brush my teeth, iron, watch Roseanne. Then when I remember- grab a wash cloth, wet it and wipe it off. Badda bing batta boom, hello pretty girl!

Weird but awesome
This stuff works great. It's gentle on my face and leaves my skin soft. I've tried just about everything for the lines under my eyes and forehead. Nothing worked. It's about 2 weeks now and the lines are almost gone. I wash my face with the hydro boost cleansing gel and put on a little hydro boost gel cream for extra dry skin right after. What a difference. My face feels moisturized and fresh.

My third bottle! Woot Woot!
I love this face wash. There’s always a battle between buying the face washes that smell good and make you feel good, versus the face washes that are simple but your dermatologist recommends them. This face wash is both of those things. It’s gentle and simple. There are no beads, no benzoyl peroxide or sacylic acid or anything fancy. It will get all your makeup off. It will leave your skin feeling supple. But honestly my favorite part is the scent. It doesn’t smell like flowers or fruit, it’s just a really good, clean smell. I won’t go back to anything else.

Fantastic product
I am in love with this product. I use it everyday in the shower. It leave my face hydrated and soft. I have very oily skin and acne prone skin as well, so the fact that I can say that this has helped bring my skin back to life, you better believe it. Love this!!

My New Favorite
Been using for a few days. Had to change from normal face wash since dry winter air is here. Being face wash and a wash off product I've been very happy with how it feels like it adds some moisture to my face. It's a great price. And the scent is nice and not overpowering. I tend to like unscented products but have enjoyed the light scent of this, I can't smell it lingering on my face after I get out of the shower. The corresponding moisturizer that goes with this face wash isn't as great as I want it to be. The moisturizer has a great matte feel, with no greasiness, and feels great right after you apply it. However, later in the day I be felt like my skin was starting to feel dry. Ive been using it with shea butter layered over top and its helping. If you are looking for something really moisturizing like I was I'd consider some other options. I think this would be great in spring or summer, but not cold, dry PA winter.

I love it!!
First of all, let me say that a little bit of this product goes a long way. One pump should be all that is needed for a good cleansing. It is a gel, so it does not foam (which is fine with me). The main ingredient is water, just in case anyone is wondering. I do recommend this face wash; I would not use it more than once a day because I think it will dry my skin out.

Does add moisture to your face!
It’s hard to go wrong with Neutrogena products- this one is no different! I have combination skin which is oily & dry at the same time, along with problem areas/pores. Nothing seems to thoroughly cleanse, besides a much more expensive argon oil brand I can’t find anymore. This reminded me a lot of that favorite I used to have, but it’s not oil based. Turned out to be way better! The scent isn’t anything great, but it’s pretty mild, which I prefer. Just a squirt or two is plenty, so one bottle is going to last a while. It is very gentle & refreshing. The consistency is light, left my skin feeling fresh & I can’t deny smooth as butter! Easy dispense, application & rinse w/ just enough of a sudsy lather. The best part- I wake up without so much oil accumulating overnight! This didn’t leave my face feeling dried out after washing- applying moisturizer is something I can skip using this, confidently knowing it’s doing it’s job in balancing my skin. And, I’m absolutely thrilled it does wonders with clearing out blackheads & shrinking pores! This has been consistent since I started using it & I’m so glad I opted to try! Granted, it won’t do the trick to “scrub” & remove dead skin or the likes, but it is great to use after gently scrubbing with a facecloth. My skin looks healthy & clear- the cost is more than affordable for the quality & quantity. Highly recommend for anyone with combination skin looking for clarity & balance.

I have sensitive skin, both oily and dry with acne and melasma. I always struggle to find a nice cleanser that doesn’t destroy my skin. This one exceeded my expectations! I’m so glad I tried it! A little goes a long way. The bottle is small enough to take it anywhere with you, but at the same time it lasts a while. It gets nice and foamy and cleanses very well. It definitely has a moisturizing effect. For me, it’s not a replacement for a moisturizer but it helps prevent excess drying. After use I follow up with vitamin c serum and then lightweight moisturizer for sensitive skin. Nice addition to my skincare routine

Great for facial regimen
I am loving this brand. I use proactiv a lot even as a grown up to help with breakouts, but that is expensive, and this works to use a few days a week in between and when I'm washing my face a few times a day. I live in a dry climate, and this seems to keep my skin clear and not dry it out. I'm very sensitive to facial products, and I absolutely love this line of Neutrogena.

Clean & hydrated
My skin looked so much better after first use! I'm nearly 50 and have hormonal acne...along with regular aging mostly around eyes and smile lines. I've wasted so much $$ buying different products trying to deal with acne I now get on my cheeks, chin and nose...something I never had even as a teenager! But on top of that I have the area under my eyes getting lines and the rest of my face gets very dry. I don't know how but this face wash made my face less tired dull-looking. If you have just dry skin and more concerned about aging and suppleness you will need to use a moisturizer after washing.

I'm a diehard for this particular line of neutrogena skin products. The gel face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, all of it... Pros: - Very light smell - Lathers well, easy to wash off - Can easily be used during shower to help save some time. - Product container also holds up well in the shower Cons: - Doesn't remove make-up well (you do need to use a micellar water + cotton pad to remove make up before using this, esp eye makeup like mascara and liner). I don't wear heavy makeup (just shadow, liquid liner, a little bit of pencil liner under my eye, reg mascara, highlighter, and blush - none of these are waterproof fyi) and this DOES NOT work to remove makeup, despite what other reviewers say - Because the smell isn't girly or overwhelming, your bf/husband/other family members will start using this in the shower

For a facial cleanser, I need to like it. First, I want to like the consistency and how it makes my face feel. I want to feel like it gets my face clean. But, most importantly for my older, dry skin, it can not dry out my skin and make it feel worse the next day. This Neutrogena Hydro Boost feels like it leaves my skin but not dry. Even the next morning, my face still feels good and not overly tight and dry which is the deciding factor for my skin. I’ve already ordered this product 3 times because I love it so much.

Ride or die face products
This cleanser is better than high end ones! I’ve tried solid cleansers and oils from ulta and sephora to remove makeup and some do the job but you have to massage ur face for so long. Until i tried this at my friends house and my life was changed….. it took minimal effort to wash my face and all my makeup was gone… then i put a cotton ball with makeup remover and nothing was left on my face i was shocked. this doesn’t even happen with my 20$ remover. I have pretty sensitive skin and this cleanser reduced how much is oil on my skin since using it. I also hate very scented skincare and this cleanser has little to no scent. Never going back to my old one ??

Nice for Dry Skin Yet Still Cleanses
I've been a "Neutrogena girl" for decades. I've raised 3 "Neutrogena girls", as a result. I was blessed with great skin, and as often happens to those who have been blessed with something, I took it for granted. The only thing I ever did FOR my skin was wash it. And it has always been just the regular bottle of Neutrogena. I'm now in my late 40's and am trying to undo years of sun damage and neglect. That's a whole different set of reviews.....my God, the amount of crap that's out there for aging women is mind-boggling and just freakin' scary. But this, I saw this when I was getting ready to order my tried & true Neutrogena. Figured I'd give it a try. I definitely need hydration where ever I can get it!! But it's soap, so I didn't expect some big change. And it wasn't big. But it was noticeable. Through my WHOLE life, especially in winter, right after I was done washing my face it always felt dry and tight. It's literally all I can do not to reach for something cooling and soothing to stop the itchy, tight feeling. For the first time EVER I didn't have that feeling after washing my face. AND it's winter. So, yeah definitely something I noticed......and loved. Other details - it has a great, light clean scent. And that's the only way I can define it. It just smells fresh and clean. It doesn't take much, the lather is moderate, and it washes COMPLETELY away with water. No residue left behind, and obviously no "dry, itchy" feeling either. It's my new facial cleanser and it doesn't COST a fortune. Which is nice, cause A LOT of this other skin care crap does. So still a "Neutrogena girl", just with an upgrade??

This has ended my headlong dash for the bottle of moisturizer right after I clean my face.
I am very picky when using products on my face; I have very allergic sensitive skin, and as I age different issue arise, like hyperpigmentation, my oily skin becoming drier in areas and of course the wrinkles. This Neutrogena cleanser actually cleanses my skin removing the make-up and dirt without over-drying, and leaving softer supple skin. I have been using it for a week and I am already impressed. I am a 55-year-old, woman, who has had problem skin her entire life, and I recommend this cleanser...
