Toxicity

Safety is a continual process. They methodically assess each ingredient for health and safety, alone and again in the final product formulation. They use verified laboratory tests and do not test on animals.

Because Caldrea does not test on animals, they cannot make the legal labeling claim of non-toxic. The FDA currently requires animal testing to support that claim. They are investigating in-vitro (test tube) methodologies that, in the future, may be able to support their non-toxic formulation process. Today, a toxicologist reviews all Caldrea formulations against a mathematical, theoretical model for safety assessment.

Their products are free of ammonia, chlorine, glycol solvents, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, artificial colorants, phosphates or petroleum distillates.

Caldrea does not test their products on animals, nor are their products made with animal-derived ingredients. Caldrea is a member of the Leaping Bunny Program, an internationally recognized campaign in North America and the European Union to eliminate cosmetics, personal care and household product testing on animals.

A. Yes. The liquid hand soap is safe to use on the body.  The formulation is not as moisturizing as a bodywash; so if you have particularly dry skin, you may want to avoid use of this product as a body wash.
