My face is destroyed
After 30 years of cystic acne, this finally healed my skin.... I gave up on using it 1 month in because it was drying me out like crazy. My dermatologist told me to trust the process and push through the purge. I’m 4 months in now and I’m ready to move to a stronger % (Rx only) 2 things I wish she would’ve told me: #1 wait for Your skin to dry fully after washing it and before applying the differin. This will prevent flaking. #2 apply at night right before bed, as sunlight makes differin lose its effectiveness. Focus on protecting your skin and using an SPF during the day. It’s amazing! About to order my 2nd tube... trust the process! Push through the purge!

How to use-it makes a difference
Grab some popcorn, here's a fun tale: I was a teenage emotional female living the dream in a place that is sunny year round, while also hiding indoors because I hate the sun. Picture it: so pale you can almost see through me, a pension for danger in the form of books and the Sims, and a spattering of acne on my forehead. The boys were FIGHTING over me so much, to this day, they still don't know who the f*** I am. But it has been AGES since that was the case. A little birth control at 18 and BOOM, I was a clear skinned goddess ready to make the opposite sex fear my very existence. I was ready to make them weep. Fast forward to now: twenty-something, a still constant pension for danger in the form of books and the Sims; but with a constant look of "don't you dare come talk to me" constantly on my face. Though I excelled in making the opposite sex fear my existence, I overestimated my uncanny knack to keep them away. No longer in need of a pill that prevents my becoming a mother, due to the lack of secondary involvement, I set out on my new life as a woman in solitude. Enter: Regret. A funny thing I wasn't told about taking birth control for 5+ years, and then stopping it, was that your face LITERALLY BECOMES ARMAGEDDON! Not only is it like a MINEFIELD OF EXPLOSIVES, but they just keep regenerating and spawning like the land of the Fing dead! No amount of ammo or first aid was helping this scenario! My face was getting KO'd and slain at every attempt to upgrade the disaster of ghosty pink spotted features that my face had become. Goodbye model contracts! HELL-O toilet scrubbing troll. Thankfully, there's Differin. My skin is clear, spotless, and still completely see through due to a lack of sunlight. I'm back to being drop dead hilarious and have all of 0 guys knocking at my door. Thanks Differin.

It works if you're patient!
I have sensitive skin. I get some acne, especially around my cycle. I am using this for it’s anti aging benefits and to improve overall skin quality. I did not have the same reaction to this product as others with sensitive skin so I thought I would explain what I did to prevent an adverse reaction. 1. Cleanse your skin with cerave or cetaphil gentle cleanser before applying (oil cleanser before hand if you have makeup on) 2. Use only moisturizing serums and lotions at first. Do not use acids, vitamin c, retinols, or fragrance until your skin gets used to the adapolene. 3. Make sure face is dry before applying. 4. Use moisturizer before or after 5. Use vaseline on corners of nose and under eye to prevent irritation in those areas. 6. Apply at night and wear sunscreen during the day. That’s it. Just remember that some irritation is normal and will go away eventually.

Differin. It changes lives.
So, this is marketed as anti acne, but I’m 52 and use it for anti aging. Pea sized amount applied 1x daily at night for the past few years instead of some OTC retinol does wonders. Avoid the eye area though (outer edges are fine, just not the delicate area). This stuff works better the longer you use, so expect to see little to no change until 3-6 months and then steady decrease in fine lines, texture and pore size. It’s a must use for me. Ease into use over a few weeks to avoid excess peeling. Cheaper and less harsh than Retin A.

Use it correctly and you will be amazed at the results
in order to avoid bad purging/skin sensitivity you need to take it slow!! Apply twice a week at night (every 3-4 nights) OVER moisturizer (I used kiehls ultra facial cream with SPF) After 2-3 weeks increase to every other night if things are going well Slowly - very slowly- work up to nightly over 1.5-3 months. Do not use with any other harsh active ingredients (acids, scrubs, peels) at least until your skin gets used to it. If you start to feel sensitivity, wait at least another day or two before your next application. I'm about a month and a half in and even a week in I noticed improvements in my skin (smaller pores, smooth texture). I have had a very low level of purging for the last month - nothing more than just a slightly above average breakout for me. Two deep ones and a couple very superficial small white heads at any given time, which then resolve over the "rest days" I give my skin between application. I rarely feel sensitivity and when I do, I back off. Only had a tiny bit of dry skin at the beginning. All this was pretty mild because I followed the above regimen. I pulled back all my other active ingredients I was using before, aside from the gentle ones (Niacinamide, centrella). Slowly adding back in my vitamin C but not on the same days I used Differin. My skin is so smooth and I am starting to get fewer breakouts! Start low and go slow, be patient and you'll get your results without freaking out your skin.

Start Low and Go Slow!
I don't have too much of an issue with acne, however I do have hormonally based pimples once a month, with a few pimples that break through every now and then. I really purchased because it is a retinoid that you don't have to go to the doctor for and I wanted it to help with some sun damage on my face and fine lines. I've only been using this for a month, but I can honestly say that within the first week I could see a change in my skin. I have absolutely had not one break out of any kind and my skin is so smooth. I sincerely believe that the discoloration and hyperpigmentation on my skin is beginning to fade. I've been using glycolic, lactic and small amounts of tca acids on my skin for about 2 yrs, trying desperately to fade the discoloration and although that did help to a certain extent, it is nothing compared to what the differen gel has done in one month. I really wish I had listened to my gut a couple of years ago and tried it out. I only have two complaints and one of those is that I do have a small amount of eczema that pops up on occasion around my eyes and on my neck. This has been happening for the last few years on and off specifically if I get any kind of retinol on those areas. However I've made sure to steer far clear of those areas and yet I still have been having some eczema breakouts, and there is no doubt that it is from using this gel. It's not terrible and I have had to stop using it for a day or two here or there to try to clear that up. I generally put some Manuka honey on it overnight and that does seem to help. If that gets worse I would have to stop using this, which would be a shame because I really do like it. The only other issue is that you cannot use any glycolic or other acids while using the differin gel. What I've been trying to do is skip a day of the gel and then try using a very light glycolic peel, although to be honest I think the gel might just be enough. I just have so many glycolic products that I hate for them to go to waste because I do think that using both will really help fade my hyperpigmentation. All of this being said, this is definitely not a product for someone with sensitive skin.....at all. Moisturizing is a must as well or it will dry out parts of your skin. I like it...alot, and as long as nothing drastically changes with the sensitivity of my skin I will definitely continue to use it. In fact I just bought my second tube.

This product probably is magic
The image on the left was the day I started differin , and the image on the right was taken only three weeks after I started the treatment. I’ve been using differin on my face now for about three weeks, and I can confidently say that I do see a significant improvements in my dark marks and my hormonal acne. I never struggled with acne until I reach my mid 20s, and because it was hormonal I’ve gone to the dermatologist many times to get prescribed topical treatments and antibiotics. I found that none of those gave me any improvements in my skin and out of desperation I decided to try differin. I’m so glad that I did and I hope that it continues to work! Seeing as differin used to be a product that was only available through prescription through a dermatologist, it makes sense that it works and it works fast. I will say it’s extremely vital to have a nice moisturizer with no fragrance on hand as this will dry your face out like crazy. I love the Cerave line and really recommend that to go alongside this! I also use 10% benzyl peroxide topical treatment as well and found out that also helped significantly to improve my skin condition.

Very effective
Ok ! My true experience ! People who want result over night won’t read it! I have oily skin whole my life , after 30s it’s got combo- oily . Maybe sun damage or my sell turn over got slowly and I got horrible adult acne . I tried everything ! But worked only salicylic acid and Retinoids ( Differin) . On my first pic’s my skin 1 year ago then I started use Differin , I went through all side affects , purging, redness , peeling , dryness but I got it . Now I don’t have any acne’s and it removed all scars and texture . Butt still use Differin gel few nights in week and salicylic acid in day time . It works!! Give it a try , you won’t regret just need to figure out your own. My advice : mild cleanser , Differin , niacinimide, good moisturizer .( night). Salicylic acid , or vitamin C with Alpha- Arbut (Day). Last picture is my skin now after one year

It works but is drying
Obviously, everyone's skin is different and you won't know if this works until you try it. For me, this stuff has been amazing. My dermatologist actually recommended it to me to help with fine lines/wrinkles but she did stress that I HAD to use a moisturizer before applying it, which I've done and haven't had any issues. I've definitely noticed an improvement in my wrinkles and (I'm not even exaggerating), if I see a pimple start to come in, this stuff will literally knock it out overnight. I've never seen anything like this before. I HAVE noticed some major drying if I skimp on the lotion, so you just have to proceed with caution.

Worth a shot!
So, my derm told me to try this. At first I wasn't sure since it says it's for acne and I'm in my 30s so I don't have any acne. I used it during the day and my skin was getting dry, but that's my own fault because it even tells you it makes you sensitive to sunlight. I switched to night use only after washing my face, and with CeraVe moisturizing cream over it. My skin has never, never looked this good. When I hit my 30s I started getting these bumps on my face, they looked like clear moles. And my skin was dulling, plus I was getting dark areas on my eyelids. Let's just say it was age related. I use SPF 50-60 daily btw, so this wasn't sun damage. Suffice it to say using differin for a month now I can not believe the results already. Bumps gone, skin looks healthier, dark areas are lightning, my skin feels so smooth, my blackheads on my nose are practically gone. They better not ever change this product because this is a miracle OTC med. Just buy it! (No one paid me to say this fyi)

Works well for sensitive skin
This product has helped my acne problem. I cant thank Differin enough for helping me with my years of severe acne. For those who give bad reviews, i would understand why. The treatment, as advices on the bottle and by the company, is supposed to take months of use for the actual result. And it does actually get worse before it gets better. The first month of using the product my skin was at its worst. 2nd month was back to how it normally is but with my skin getting smoother. 3rd month it started slowing down, at around two or three pimple on my face. By the fourth month, i would get lucky that i can have 2 weeks pimple free. But if not i usually get one or two small ones that would disappear right away. I reccomend using this product with benzoyl peroxide. Differin then benzoyl peroxide after 5 minutes. Do not skip a day and always use sunscreen and moisturizer. If you do get outbreaks or purging with the first month, just push through it and i promise you it is worth it. Thank you again Differin for helping me with my skin problem!

Where has this been all my life?
I use this gel retinoid product regularly to remain wrinkle and line free at age 51. In my opinion, a retinoid is a more effective anti-ager than a retinol. This Differin gel smooths and tightens my facial skin when used regularly. You might find your skin so tight you will need to stop using for a few days then go back. I’m currently on a 4 days on/3 days off regime as I work my way up to 7 days a week application. Make sure you use in conjunction with a high quality hydrating face and eye cream to mitigate the drying effects of a retinoid. Extremely affordable product that produces results! Definitely recommend in lieu of much more expensive retinol products.

IT WORKS!!!
I have already re-ordered. I am 68 and have what they call old people acne on the chin. I started to use this and in a short 3 weeks they are all almost gone. Went further to other spots on face and found the skin to be so much smoother. I will continue to use. A GREAT PRODUCT
