•Healthy gluten free snack •Great on biscuit, pancakes and waffles •Deep in the hills of tennessee, midway between nashville and knoxville lies a little community called muddy pond. During september and ocotber, you can smell the aroma of fresh made sorghum syrup being made by the guenther family. Stop by the muddy pond sorghum mill and watch step by step as sorghum syrup is being made. You can taste the syrup while it is still warm and purchase some to take home with you. You can watch the horses walk around the cane mill as the juice is being squeezed out of the sorghum cane. You may hear the train whistle blow as the wood fired, steam locomotive boiler makes the steam that boils the juice down to syrup. After making sorghum syrup since the mid 1960's with others in the community, several of the grandchildren can be seen filling containers and labeling jars. As the years have passed and the demand for sorghum has increased, we have gone from cutting the cane by hand, with a machete, to harvesting with a machine. We now have a cane cutting machine tha

Not what I had hoped for
The media could not be loaded. My first time tasting sorghum Syrup. We've had sorghum in other forms as a snack but never in a Syrup. There's a familiarity when it comes to the flavor, all positive. It tastes like a little of light molasses with honey and brown sugar. It tastes really sweet. I'm surprised that the sugar is not way higher. My wife loves it too. I'll be using this on pancakes, cookies, desserts. I grill a lot on my pellet grill so I'll be incorporating this into marinades and basting sauces.

Best Sorghum syrup of my life
I have to add another voice to the chorus: this is the taste of my childhood. My grandparents grew sorghum and brewed syrup locally (Carroll County, Tennessee). I would eat their sorghum on almost everything at breakfast, then get fresh butter and more sorghum to make a whirlwind in my empty plate. I used to buy sorghum in stores when I could find it, but none of that was very impressive. This stuff is perfect. The consistency is excellent, and the taste is unbelievable.

I love the flavor
I was a molasses fan growing up. I never realized til recently that sorghum comes from a different plant and, though similar, it is different tasting. I will never switch back to molasses. I somehow got to watching a Muddy Pond YouTube video and that was the beginning of the end for me. I ordered a pint and loved it. I decided to do a competitive taste test between brands and there is definitely different tastes in sorghum out there. So far none have been close to Muddy Pond in my opinion. Try this on a warm biscuit or a stack of pancakes and you will be sold! The folks that make Muddy Pond have a bunch of very wholesome and informative YouTube videos. Enjoy yourself with them.
