Everything I wanted the Fire TV Stick to be
I don't have a smart tv. Was debating between a fire stick and chromecast. Fire stick would have made more since if I wathed tv a lot as it has the remote and can stream straight from the device. However, I don't watch tv much but I do give a lot of presentations. In this way, it made more since to get Chromecast as I can easily cast my powerpoint from my computer or phone and it doubles as a way to cast my streaming subscriptions. Do wish that Amazon Prime would be supported in casting from computer. Right now--it has to double so I see the video in my window and on the screen. Just wastes more batteries. But amazon and google are competitors sooo, really, what can one expect?

You can't use Chromecast without internet service and a router.
This is an amazing product at an amazing price. For the people that purchased this thinking a 35 dollar product would magically create a Wi-Fi connection have the wrong idea. I use this at my cottage to watch Netflix WITHOUT internet at the house. I do this by simply using two devices and having hotspot on one. Use second device to set up and cast, use one for hotspot connection. Tablet and phone works best, with unlimited data you can use this any where you have cellphone service.

Works well - better for my use than the fire stick
I recently switched to Google Chromecast because my Amazon Firestick was very finicky and many of the apps that were supported before (like Direct TV NOW) were not supported anymore or were a pain to use due to frequent crashes. I was sick of it, plain and simple. So I decided to get Google Chromecast and I'm very happy I did. It's super easy to set up with your network and phone. I like that you can cast pretty much whatever you want using your phone or computer as your source and remote. I couldn't be happier, and I liked it so much, I purchased a second one for my projector in my movie room. Perfect clarity, not glitches and works wonderfully. You can't go wrong with it. If you are on the fence about buying, just do it. You will be happy with it.

Use without Wi-Fi if you have a hotspot
I absolutely love it! It took less than 5 minutes to set up and now I can view videos, TV, and movies with ease from my iPhone to my large screen TV. I don't have a television service/converter box. I only have internet, so with this Chromecast I get to watch YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, and some networks on the TV by casting it from my phone --or laptop. I mostly love that I can use my phone and it does not tie up anything else I need my phone for or slow anything down. It can easily be transported to another TV in a different part of the house as well. Now I'm going to order another one so I don't have to move it around.

Very easy to set up and use
I needed this because I got the discovery plus channel but for some reason, it wouldn’t interface with my LG tv. It was easy to hook up, and you don’t need that extra plug sold separately to help plug the chrome cast into the power source, as the cord in the chrome cast is long enough to reach your power source.

We do NOT have cable, & don't pay for any TV/streaming/cable services. With this Chromcast, we can stream all sorts of shows, music, and just about anything on-line. It's been great! Can be used with most TVs, even ours that's 6-8 yrs old. Has saved us TONs of $$ & our teens are happy. We have 2 of these devices, & are considering purchasing another one for an old TV that we're going to put on Arizona Patio for outdoor use. Prior one is 2 yrs old & still going strong. Can be a bit finicky at times, but still not sure if that's operator error, our unreliable internet provider COX, or this device. Still WELL WORTH $$ & gives us many choices.

Easy to install, worth the money
I recently purchased a new smart TV. Unfortunately that TV did not come with Chromecast it did come with SmartCast/Smartview but I was not able to get it to work with my iOS streaming app from my cable provider. After some research and reading some articles I determined that I needed this Chromecast device. Setup can’t get much easier, make sure you have the app on your phone and in 15 minutes you are up and running, that includes plugging it in.

What did we do without this before now??
I have an early Samsung smart TV and for some reason its operating system isn't able to update beyond a certain version so I can only get some apps (no HBO e.g.). This year though, all these apps (Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu) have reallyyyy slowed down (or perhaps the rest of the world just sped up). I bought the chromecast and it has changed everything. Seriously, it works flawlessly and you use your phone/computer (whatever device you're casting from). Once I set up the chromecast with one device, the chromecast was visible to all other devices seamlessly. Just make sure your device and the chromecast are connected to the same wifi network. I think the newest version made things more complicated. Like it's trying to compete with FireStick or something? This version is perfect.

Compact and very easy to set up!
Easy to setup! Relatively easy to use. It took me a couple of tries to get the casting going but it connects easily. Could be something to do with the computer. I use it to cast from my PC, not from my phone. I love it so much I'm thinking of getting some for my other rooms! That said, I did have some issues with twitch, which I think is more of a twitch issue and less of a product issue. Noticed in theatre mode the stream quality is much better (but still not great). Not sure how to get the chat going on the screen but overall works as desired.

Works better than my Smart TV
This is very useful, so glad I bought it for my TV. I thought it would have a standalone interface (apps and stuff) and it does not, it's just used for casting. This is not negative, just something to point out. My Samsung TVs wireless capabilities stopped working but now I can still stream using the Chromecast. Having Google Assistant is also a plus as you can control volume and TV power if your TV supports HDMI control. I'd say the most important thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't have a stand alone interface like a fire stick for example, instead, your phone and it's apps is the interface.

Got this to watch HBOmax on the tv. Works seamlessly most of the time. Sometimes it needs to be rebooted which is annoying because our tv is mounted on the wall and it isn’t the easiest job to get behind it to press the power button on this thing. But it was worth it and would definitely buy again if needed.

No need to get a extra power adapter for USB. The ChromeCast 3 powers from USB out of the box. I got a USB splitter to have enough ports to power the Chrome Cast and still have a USB port for a USB drive with some videos.

Works most of the time
I have a Google home and use it to control the chromecast. I found it to be easy (like much easier than alexa). I can cast 1080 aka Full HD resolution prime videos, can cast Full HD resolution netflix and everything else. Only issue, no easy kill switch. So using master switch on the power strip.

Power from USB port
This is the second one I have owned. The first one lasted about 3 years before it started losing connection needing to be factory reset almost every other time I used it. I bought this one and it is perfect and even faster than my previous one

Good 1080 resolution when mirroring PC or mobile.
This is a productive creation I use very often at home in my bedroom, and it does not have lag nor glitches (unless of course your internet is malfunctioning or being hacked) and is even more smooth with the output than my Roku TV applications and I love it. PS. Try using it to play all access movies for free from your smartphone or laptop using the Cast feature embedded in most Google products and apps.

Lasted about 3 years
I recently purchased this 3rd generation cast and add it to my TV. I have an existing earlier version added to my other TV. However it took me about 1/2 hour to figure out how to add it under the control of my phone. While the instruction was written in orderly fashion that made it clear to follow, there are steps not clear enough to make the installation a smooth one. But once connected, the quality of the pictures are almost as good as original but small resolution are lost. Also there are different video players compatible with Chromcast such that with one click, the picture gets redirected to the TV. Overall, other than a little technical difficulties with the install, everything else work as expected.

Another Great Google Innovation!
I have a perfectly fine but "outdated" Samsung SmartTV, but I couldn't get Disney+ on it. I purchased the Chromecast along with a USB power cable (both on Amazon) and it worked immediately and perfectly! These two items were exactly what I needed in order to cast Disney+ to my SmartTV. It was inexpensive and one of the best purchases I've ever made!

Combine different video sources to a central TV
Im so glad this little thing exists! Took me less then 5 mins to set up and use, I had gotten shudder subscription thinking I'd be able to watch it via Amazon app on my TV but surprise, you have to pay for them separately even tho they are the same service and I saw a. Ad for this and its amazing!!

Exactly what I needed for Disney+!
Essential item if you stream things that are hard to watch in the US such as cycling or Formula one racing. Just last night I used it to watch the superbowl. Chromecast has been awesome since it's inception 8 or 10 years ago and it's still a must have.

Nifty little gadget!
This is my 3rd Chromecast device. One in the living room, one in the bedroom, and one in the garage. To me, it's better than a fire stick. If you're thinking about cutting the cord/getting rid of cable, I would say do it today. Then, get yourself a Chromecast it works perfectly for streaming straight from your device, or even mirroring your device. It works with the Home app too!
