Good for first timers and nice balanced effects
This was my first experience with any sort of kava product. I suffer from severe pain issues and some pretty nasty periodic anxiety attacks, so I'm always looking for any way to improve my health and funtioning outside of mainstream medicine. This powder mixes easily and I found the taste to be pretty mild; yes, it has a slight earthiness, but mostly it tasted like nothing at all. My mouth definitely went numb right away just from licking the spoon after scooping out my dose. It eventually has a bit of a pleasant numbing effect on the throat as well, but not as pronounced as that of the mouth. A few minutes after my first dose, it felt like I did a HUGE exhale and suddenly my shoulders relaxed. I also got a feeling that I can only describe as peaceful well-being. I wasn't groggy or sleepy and I wasn't stimulated, just kind of mellow. I had a terrible migraine out of nowhere one day, and typically once one sets in, there is little I can do about it, but the kava kept it from getting worse. I did have to take a heavier dose to achieve that effect, but hey, it beat the performance of my usual prescription migraine pill. The biggest drawback to this product is the way it is packaged. It comes in a small tin that is absolutely stuffed to the brim with powder, and the power is exceedingly light, so no matter how hard you try, it seems like you end up wasting little puffs of kava when you open the tin or move it the wrong way. You need to sort of hold your breath as you measure it out because you can blow half of it away with one ill-timed breath! A larger tin or some other sort of container would be much easier, and a welcome addition would be if the manufacturer included just a little plastic scoop to measure out a normal dose because trying to use a spoon doesn't work when the tin is overly full; you have to try to weigh out the dust, but the more you have to move the dust around, the more you lose of it. The product is good but it seems to be one of the more expensive options, so keeping the powder from blowing away is kind of important. One thing I did not realize before I tried kava for the first time is that in addition to numerous different brands, there are a ton of different TYPES of kava which are supposed to bring about different kind of effects. Some are more body dominant, some are more brain heavy, some are more "social" and energizing. I tried one type that was exceedingly unpleasant to me because it was overstimulating. This product, on the other hand, seems to fall right into the "sweet spot" as far as producing balanced brain and body effects and general calm and relaxation.

Convenient, euphoric, yet weak
I never write reviews unless something is REALLY GOOD or REALLY BAD. The fact is this is my 5th time attempting to use Kava and actually feel something. The reason I keep trying is I remember back in the 90's I bought some Kava at GNC (before they banned it) and it gave me one of the most relaxing afternoons I ever had. Fast forward to now. This is the first time I ever actually had the same experience since then. I let it sit there for about a week thinking it would be the same old bunk when one day I was having a PARTICULARY STRESSFUL DAY at work and decided what the hell. I went home for lunch and used 2 tea spoons (I have the cannister not the packets and 1 tea spoon is the recommended dose) and my anger disappeared, I felt sociable (and Im not a particularly sociable person) and came home to a great night sleep later on. Im confident its not a placebo effect as I did not expect it to work, as a matter a fact I was sure it WOULDNT! I have used it a few more times and its still FANTASTIC! However, for those looking for a Narcotic like high its not that. Its subtle and I struggled to explain the feeling Its sort of like going from stressed about a lot of nonsense in your life to having a child like (at least my childhood) unconcern for the world around me and realizing life is good. I have a cute Kitty cat, a comfortable bed and my favorite TV show is on tonight. SO RELAX!

Good for first timers and nice balanced effects
I was worried to try Kava because I heard that it can cause liver problems. After some research I learned that only happens if you are buying bad quality kava. I'm glad I ended up buying this amazing organic-non-gmo- premium noble grade vanuatuan kava because you can tell the quality. I don't get why people don't like the taste. In my opinon it's doesn't taste bad and I love it! Anyways I have serious depression , anxiety, sleep issues, and also general fatigue in my body. I've noticed a huge improvement in my mood, anxiety, sleep patterns and feel less fatigue throughout the day. Amazing - Using nightly
I bought this product after learning about Kava and it’s effects. I didn’t want something that took me a while to prepare, nor did I want to have to continuously make drinks to get a relaxed feeling. I’ve since repurchased it a few time. The taste isn’t bad. It’s simple to mix and the effects start to set in rather quickly. I was concerned about the numb feeling that people continuously describe with Kava, but it’s really not anything more than a tingle that lasts only a minute or two. All you do is take a scoop, mix it with some water and down it. Very simple. And the owners are very friendly. I’d definitely recommend for anyone that is looking for a natural calming type of feeling.

I quit drinking alcohol a couple years ago and in looking for alternatives, I’ve tried Kava before with either no effect or extremely bad effects; severe nausea and vomiting, dizziness etc. I decided to give it another try and went with Drinkroot after finding several good reviews on third party websites. I’ve been very pleased with this purchase. Although it is a bit pricey, it’s been effective and pleasant enough to compensate for that. I’ve gotten a very smooth, relaxing whole body buzz that made me feel more content and introspective than I’ve felt in a long time. The taste is milder than the whole root kava I bought before, which for me is a good thing as other brands have made me sick. The packaging and preparation is elegant and simple, and the dehydrated juice mixes instantly without any grit or fibers, and left a subtle numbing effect on my tongue. I experienced extremely vivid dreams and slept deeply after a few hours enjoying the feeling each time I’ve taken it. I wish it were more affordable, but this is a well made product that has really helped to put me in a better state of mind and body. I'm a Kava enthusiast. I have been for some time. This product is amazing. Not only is it cheaper than most of the other high quality kava powders out there. It's potency is optimal! I used to buy kava in bulk but the potency started to get worse and worse from certain vendors I'm not going to mention... I also tried Gaia's kava kava root pills and had to take about 3 times the advised dosage just to get the usual relaxing feeling I got from the other products which was probably not smart since this can be taxing on my liver but I wanted to feel SOMETHING... This product on the other hand, I take the recommended dosage and a nice subtle pleasant calm washes over me. Good for first timers and nice balanced effects
I am from New England, so what I know about kava is what I've learned through research and sampling. I would love to try it in the Pacific some day. The best kava I've ever had was at Kava Sutra in New York. Drink Root is the closest to that experience I have had at home, and I've tried it all. The loose teas work in terms of effect, but even with the ball and shaker you can buy, they taste so foul, and are so harsh on my insides, that I simply had to rule them out. The micronized stuff is easier to make, but almost as foul. The health store supplements don't work for me unless I take way more than the recommended dosage, and that's scary, considering the iffy production there. There is a guava kava juice you can buy, but it's as expensive as scotch, very sugary and you need a lot of it. Then there's the paste, the candy, etc., all of it kind of meh. What Drink Root offers in its dehydrated kava juice is the smoothness and the power, without the nastiness or the stomach issues, that I found at the kava bar. I don't need too much of it. It is a perfect after-work, before-dinner elixir (which I need, because my job is stressful). I would use the same words as found on a bottle of Guinness to describe it: "robust, mellow and satisfying." Finally, when I emailed co-founder Kyle with a question, he emailed me back in a very personable and friendly way. His chill yet attentive comportment seems a great advertisement for this powerful herb he is making available across the nation. Overall, this company seems earnest and devoted. Except for when I take a trip down to the city, this will be my herbal beverage of choice from now forward.

Convenient, euphoric, yet weak
If you're interested in this, you already know see the price -- I paid $27.99 for 25g of instant kava. I can't tell you if it's worth such a high price -- you'd definitely get more bang for your buck buying traditional ground kava root. But I can tell you this is very high quality stuff, and a little goes a long way. The recommended dose of 1/2 tsp is definitely enough to give you an immediate, pleasant effect. This was the first time I've used genuine instant kava (dehydrated from brewed kava, as opposed to micronized). It's easy to tell the difference. My recommendation is, if you can afford it, buy this for travel purposes, but stick with traditional kava most of the time. Side note -- I think somewhere in the product description it said this was in individual packets measured out for a dose each. It is not in packets, it's powder in a tin like in the photo. I prefer that, as I don't like unnecessary package waste, so it's no points off for me, but just want to make sure that's known. The tin is nice, and screws off easily so you don't spill anything trying to get the lid off.

Robust, Mellow and Satisfying
My first time experimenting with Kava Kava as an alternative sleep-aid was successful. Following doctor's advice a year ago, I began taking Diphenhydramine before bed as a sleep-aid and to help me sleep through night sweats. This proved effective for 6 months, but soon I found it less and less effective. Recently, I've heard of potential negative physical and mental effects that come with using Benadryl habitually as a sleep aid. Initially, I switched to using chamomile extracts to help with sleep, which wasn't as effective as Benadryl was for me. So I investigated Kava and the potential benefits of replacing Benadryl with the power of kavalactones for sleep. I used the DrinkRoot instant dehydrated Kava powder. Using one tsp, one hour before bed, proved most effective. I got a full 7 hours of sleep and felt well-rested the following morning. From these results, I believe I'll be eliminating diphenhydramine entirely from my sleep regimen, and instead replacing it with Kava Kava, using chamomile as a coadjuvant sleep-aid.

High quality, high price
I was in a long dark tunnel, emotionally, for much of this year. With no light at the end of this tunnel, it was starting to look more like a black hole. I was crying and beating myself up every day. Two weeks ago I found this Kava Kava. The first day there was a light at the end of the tunnel, for ALL of that day. This blessed light has been on and off every day now for 2 weeks. I have begun to find the person I used to be, the person I liked, the person I was comfortable being. With the light on, I can be with people again. I am crying and I am smiling at the same time. I am releasing the anguish that has plagued me this year. Some folks may tell you that Kava Kava gets them high. I do not get high. I simply find I am beginning to let go of the anger and unbearable stress that has been dragging me down. I am finding my smile again. My eyes are smiling. With mj I do get release. I smile and laugh and sing and dance but when the high wears off I am back in the tunnel. The relief is temporary and of course I won't drive high. I spend a couple of hours enjoying me but am not moved to do anything productive. With Kava Kava I begin to let the angst go. I look around at the clutter I have burried myself in and instead of insurmountable piles of trash I see individual things that can be put away or given away or thrown away. And I find the impetus to begin. I tried a 700mg capsule of Kava first because many reviews said it was better than any they had tried before. For me it gave slight relief similar to the pharmaceutical I had been getting from my doctor and also similar to the effect of CBD. I was able to put one foot in front of the other but without joy. The product I have now is called Drink Root Premium Vanuatuan Kava. It is an ultra fine powder I put in coffee or Bolthouse Green Goodness after first dissolving it in 1/4 cup of boiling water. I'm on track. Life is starting to look just as it should. I am sooo grateful for the Kava. I AM GRATEFUL.

Effective Sleep Aid and Anxiolytic!
I am a Kava newbie- cutting back on alcohol. Heard about Kava and read up on lots of options, decided on this instant one due to the reviews and ease of preparation. I have also tried Kava in a tincture and one as a pre-made canned drink. I just received this tin, mixed a tsp in with a hibiscus tea to dissolve it, then added hibiscus seltzer water. WOW- this is it! I have found what I have been looking for- amazing taste (was already prepared for earthiness from previous drinks), the power and the punch and more potent than my previous experiences. I LOVE this KAVA! Definitely already ordering more.

I had read about Kava and did a little research and decided to try out the product. I read about the flavor so I was ready for that. I tried it with my partner at the same time so we could see how the outcome was, if one person had different results, issues, etc, and WOW!! about 30 minutes after drinking it, we both just felt an EXTRA sense of calm and clear-headedness, exactly what we wanted and expected to occur. I will definitely continue with the product and brand. I also ordered capsules from another company and did not get the same effect. You have a customer for life.

Amazing!
I've tried numerous strains of kava from several different vendors, and in various product formulations (e.g. Capsules, tinctures, ground root, micronized, instant, etc.). This is not the only instant kava that I've tried, though it is definitely the most effective for reducing my anxiety. Its much more convenient than traditional kava root preparation, and its definitely comparable in its potency per serving, which sets it apart from kava capsules, tinctures, and most other instant kava powders on the market. It's clearly a quality product made by a reputable company, and that's relatively rare within the kava marketplace, due to the lack of regulations, limited agricultural production of kava, and very few locations worldwide from which kava can is currently grown. I strongly recommend this product to anybody interested; especially people looking for, a natural anxiolytic to lessen the symptoms of there anxiety and those in search of a nature muscle relaxant. Whether new or a veteran of kava, I believe you'll find this product helpful. I'd specifically endorse this to anybody looking to avoid the labor intensive process of preparing traditional kava, while still receiving the relaxing benefits at a comparable potency (per serving size). The one downside to this product is the high price tag with respect to the # of servings per container (~14 servings per 25 grams). Its nice to find one more company in this industry that I can rely on for a consistent product being produced and manufactured with transparency and industry leading practices. Drink Root is a company that acts with integrity, conducts themselves authentically, and displays accountability by standing behind there product.

Pleasantly surprised, first time using Kava and it worked great!!
So convenient. Great to take along. Don’t have to worry about having a bag to strain or anything. Quick. Potent. I’m a pretty regular kava user. Coming off of a break about a week long, 1 tsp did me just right and had me feeling great after about 15 mins. Gonna have a double tonight before bed I think. Not a lot of numbness, so I was a bit skeptical at first. Tastes SOOO much better than any other kava I’ve had. Night and day on the flavor. I like the ceremony of preparing kava, and it’s part of the experience for me. But this stuff is great. The strength is pretty outstanding. Good stuff. Will be buying this very regularly.

Quality Kava/Excellent Effects/Convenient Preparation!
I like that unlike other Kavas, this one can just be mixed in water without need for a strainer bag. The flavor is nice (for Kava) and it definitely works. I was looking for alternatives to anti-anxiety medication (such as Xanax) or cannabis. Kava has some of the same receptor effects as cannabis but without the memory issues or mental impairment that THC can cause. It's not as euphoric as THC, but for anxiety (especially social anxiety) it works wonders. I wish the tin was a little taller because it is hard to open without spilling a little. Overall the price is a bit high, but you are paying for the convenience of not having to strain the kava (this is evaporated pre-made kava tea, not ground up roots). Tins like this would be great for travel. It mixes well with no lumps or bits.

I received a small tin of kava today and was grateful for the reminder to open the tin carefully. Unlike another brand of instant that comes in a tin, there was no other packaging. So, open too fast and you lose the valuable contents. I also appreciated the chemotype printed on the label. Although I was a little concerned about the 2015 on the label logo. Was this kava from 2015 or was that when the company was formed? Four years plus is a little long in the tooth for kava to remain fresh. However, I mixed 3/4 tsp up in 8 ounces of water, and my first thought was that this is absolutely the same as the other brand I mentioned (Kavafied Supreme instant), so I'm wondering if the company purchases from the same grower. So it tastes good - although I think it was slightly more heady for the first hour or so. Perhaps the kavain content is a little higher than the Kavafied version. Its a bit pricey compared to other instant kavas BUT if you like a heady kava that settles down after an hour or two to something more relaxing, then this might be for you. I will purchase again at some point as Im all for trying out new kavas - sometimes its never the same kava twice!
