PROS: 1. One of the least expensive and most cost efficient choices for a high-caliber unflavored whey protein concentrate (WPC). 2. Emulsifies rapidly and completely in cold beverages. 3. No artificial sweeteners or flavors. 4. rBST-free 5. Gluten Free 6. Delivers 18 gr. net protein, 4.0 grams of BCAA's, 1 gr. sugar and 94 calories per 23 gram scoop (included in bottle) 7. Excellent for mixing with NutriBlast mixer for protein smoothies or shakes. 8. Mild, non-invasive taste and flavor-only minimally detectable when mixed into beverages with fruit or other ingredients. CONS: 1. This product is conventionally-sourced and is NOT organic. 2. This product most likely contains a higher concentration of soy (lecithin) since manufacturers touting a low soy-based product will specifically state that the product contains less than 1% soy on the jar/bottle. Definitely a consideration for folks who are soy-allergic or restricted. 3. Whey Concentrates contain significant amounts of lactose, so anyone with lactose intolerance should avoid them! 2. Contains 17% cholesterol per serving vs. only 1% in a whey protein isolate supplement. 3. Contains 78% protein per gram compared with whey protein isolates which have 89% per gram. 4. Contains 18 gr. of protein vs. 25 gr. with a whey protein isolate powder. 5. Contains 6,974 mg of total amino acids vs. 10,108 with a whey protein isolate supplement. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. If you are not lactose-intolerant and want a general protein supplement that will help improve your health and not break the bank, pick a whey protein concentrate that is at least 80% protein. This is an acceptable WPC (Whey Protein Concentrate) supplement that is very economical, appropriate for folks who are not lactose-intolerant and who simply wish to increase protein intake, restrict calories and sustain good health. 2. Whey Protein Isolates (WPI), and particularly hydrolysates, are more rapidly absorbed than concentrates and create a more immediate insulin response. This makes whey isolates popular post-workout choices for exercise recovery. However, anyone wishing to limit rises in insulin, such as T1 and T2 diabetics should avoid isolates all together because of their effects on insulin release. In Good Health!

I will never, ever buy another protein powder as long as I live.
I bought Jarrows because the ingredients were plain and simple. However, the protein powder did not meet other expectations. The taste was too strong. I mix my protein with 8oz of milk every morning to use with cereal. The taste of the protein was over powering with a chalky flavor. Compared to other protein supplements, it was a bit too much. When using a shaker cup, you will have to shake it a lot to get the protein to blend. If not, you will get clumpy powder which doesn't bode well in cereal. If you use a blender, you shouldn't have an issue. The ingredients are simple without any weird fillers. That can be hard to find in other proteins, even unflavored. If you will be adding other ingredients to the protein, other than just milk, and will be using a blender, then this is a good choice.

THE SCOOP ON WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATES: BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK !!!!!!
Over all I like this product, but the price keeps rising. I was about to buy for the 4th time, but it's now over $21 and just a couple months or so ago was a little over $17. It was actually the $17 price the 1st 2 times I bought, then around $18, now at $21. Subscribing doesn't help either. Thinking I need to look elsewhere to buy. Edit to add... I've looked elsewhere... and at other products, and am still going to purchase this. I just wish the price would go back down or at least remain constant.

Plain with no fillers but with other caveats.
This Whey protein concentrate is fantastic. There are no artificial flavors, added sugar, or food colorings. Surprisingly hard characteristics to find in whey nutrition supplements... That being said this is probably the gold standard or, “as good as it gets” for whey protein supplements. I’ve bought many containers of this over the last year and have recommended it to friends and family. I like to mix one scoop of this Jarrow Whey Protein powder with about 1/4 cup milk and one teaspoon of unadulterated natural unsweetened cocoa powder. I stir it well and add another 1/4 cup of milk. [11/30/20 edit: modified recipe: 1/4 cup milk, one scoop Jarrow whey protein, 1 1/2 Teaspoon of baking cocoa, dash of ground ginger, slightly larger dash of ground turmeric, stir very well then fill rest of 12 oz. cup with the coconut water of your choice (this adds potassium to the drink). This mixture also works well for making popsicles. Freeze the mixture in some popsicle molds and make yourself convenient protein popsicles!] This is the primary method I use after a workout to get quick protein [and potassium] in the system. Quick, easy, and tasty without all the processed sugar, artificial colorings, and artificial flavors. I have also use it as an alternative to malt with plain vanilla ice-cream (note: it is definitely NOT a malt). Let the ice-cream melt just a little bit and add your scoop of whey protein, mix, and you have 36% of your daily amino acid protein in a delicious treat. It did not seem to mix well with home-made hot chocolate... I do not know why but it seemed to float to the top rather than mix with the other ingredients.

Price keeps rising :( but I love this stuff! Please stop increasing!
I've used this for years, after deciding there had to be something better than the artificially flavored protein powders found at the big box stores. Best tip -- don't add this to anything hot, or you'll get tiny, unpleasant, cheesy lumps. I love it in my morning coffee but blend it into an inch of coffee in my mug plus a splash of cold milk. A battery powered frother works fine for that, and yes it will make great froth!. Alternatively, I'll mix it up in a big batch using my NutraBullet (3 scoops in 16 oz milk gives me about 1 serving of protein per oz). Mixing it the night before helps it dissolve completely and also gives time for the foam to settle. My dad is recovering from a hospital stay and having trouble eating, so we're putting this into every glass of milk. He likes the milk even better with the added whey protein, says it's creamier and goes down more easily. I've added it to instant pudding and even to jello (blend with the cold water before adding it to the hot water plus jello powder), and it's all gone over well. I haven't tried baking with it yet, but Dad's nutritionist suggested putting it into anything from cookies to muffins. I think as long as I dissolve it into a liquid ingredient before mixing & baking, that should work fine. Needless to say, it's great in smoothies. A scoop of the powder, 6 oz yogurt, 1/4 to 1/2 cup frozen fruit, and a spash of milk... even if he doesn't finish it, Dad gets enough protein to have it count as a decent meal. My seldom-hungry daughter will have a smoothie when nothing else appeals, also. One final note -- I appreciate the single source protein, since I've been told to avoid soy (breast cancer survivor), so most protein bars are "out" for me. As other reviewers have said, I'd give this six stars if I could!

IMO The best whey protein powder on the market.
I was a caregiver for a family member who has since passed away, and I am now just getting the opportunity to write reviews for all the products I purchased here during the time that I have provided care. The doctors and nurses recommended I give my patient Carnation Instant Breakfast, Ensure, or Boost, or just plain Whey Protein, and I looked around, and priced it all, and then I found Jarrow Formulas Whey Protein, Unflavored, here. I purchased this for the sole purpose of getting more fluids and nutrients into him. He would not drink the volume that was prescribed, but he loved ice cream, and so I would mix up a batch of Jarrow Whey Protein with milk, a little sugar and dash of vanilla, and then freeze it into an "ice-milk" in a Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker, then top it with a little chocolate sauce, and that way I could get him to eat as much as he wanted. So, if you are a caregiver for a loved one, and nutrition and fluids are a serious issue, then perhaps some of this advice will help you. Buy this with confidence!

Blends into nearly anything - unless it's hot!
I am a picky consumer of protein powder. For years, I have been enjoying daily shakes with Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder, Strawberry, 2 Pounds or MusclePharm Combat Protein Powder - Essential blend of Whey, Isolate, Casein and Egg Protein with BCAA's and Glutamine for Recovery, Vanilla, 4 Pound . Both have been good to me in terms of developing muscle mass, keeping my appetite under control, easily digestible, and tasty. I decided to experiment with Jarrow's Whey formula. The reason is their whey protein appears to be state of the art with zero growth hormones and minimal fat and lactose. This is important because as I get older, I cannot digest food as easily as I could in my 20's. So far I have been extremely pleased. It dissolves easily, tastes good, and my muscle to fat ratio appears to be moving in the optimal direction.

EXCELLENT!
This protein powder I am loving so far. I have the unflavored but it is easy to make it have flavor adding cocoa or vanilla and whatever sweetener you feel comfortable using. It’s great for protein powder hot chocolate as well as protein shakes. It mixes well into oatmeal as well and seems to ad a good flavor to everything I just listed. I will be buying again. Mc Donald’s Strawberry shake Tsp vanilla 5-7 strawberries 1 tbsp almond butter 2 scoops unflavored Jarrow protein powder 1 frozen banana 1 c milk (I used coconut milk) 1-2 tsp palm coconut sugar Blend This to me tastes like a strawberry shake at McDonalds. I was surprised when I tried it that it tasted similar.

high quality ingredients and tasty
None of that ingestible, poorly absorbed and utilized fake vegan nonsense here, just high quality concentrated, purified milk protein. Humans evolved for millions of years to get protein from animals, not plants. Either you get that or you don't. I love plants, I eat as much as I can, but not as a significant source of protein. I went through a tub of the vanilla version, it was good but had a bit of a fake sweetener vanilla flavor. This chocolate version is the bomb. It blends quickly and easily, you don't even need a shaker bottle. I mix it with unflavored natural almond milk (low carbs/ low sugar) and sometimes some good, dark powdered instant coffee or a shot of espresso, chug it immediately post-workout. Price, flavor, quality etc, this is the one you want.

Know What You're Ordering - This is a GREAT Product!
For those of you mentioning that the container isn't full: you're buying servings. The contents settle. The container is not supposed to be full and you're not getting ripped off. Simmer down now, k? Regarding the taste: it's LOW sugar, people! It's not supposed to taste like a milkshake. Want a great tasting smoothie? Start with the powder, maybe a little fresh spinach or kale, half a frozen banana, a 1/4 cup of frozen berries, then add some water or almond or coconut milk. Blend it in a Ninja or something similar. It will be cold. It will be creamy. It will be satisfying. It still will not taste like a milkshake but aren't milkshakes what got you into this mess? Added refined sugar is what is killing us. This product is high in protein, low in sugar and very low in cost. I've been buying this for years and will continue to do so! Smoothie on, folks!

High amount of protein compared to others.
You will not be disappointed , this is absolutely delicious. If your looking for something affordable & great tasting this is for you. My daily shake consist of 2 scoops protein shake (vanilla), one half banana, whole milk & a few ice cubes. I use a portable blender and it blends smooth and delicious. It is actually great by itself without adding anything to it. I honestly did not start using this product to lose weight, I needed more protein in my diet and something quick and easy while at work to fill me up. I am on my third container and about 3 weeks in & I've lost over 12lbs just from adding this protein powder to my daily routine. I have not exercised nor changed anything in my diet BUT I'm dropping LBS like crazy. (I'm very active at work anyway) I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. I absolutely love it and will continue to purchase it.

I was on the fence about it since it was so cheap and basic, but my friend told me he gets it and to stop being a bad word. So I got 3lbs. I'm on my second pound. It works very well for shakes in the blender. I haven't tried it in a blender bottle, so I can't tell you if it blends well via shaking. It also mixes well in hot liquids as long as you stir briskly and constantly. I added a tiny bit to some pasta sauce just get some extra protein where I could. Wasn't too bad. When you open the container it smells like cake batter. That's a pretty big plus to me as well. One of my favorite protein shake recipes: 1 scoop of the protein powder 1 banana (or half. Frozen is preferred) 2 tablespoons of no sugar added peanut butter 0.25oz of unsweetened cocoa powder (more if you want more chocolatey flavor) A healthy dash of cinnamon About 6oz of bottled water or milk Blend in a blender, drink up. 466 calories (whole banana) 42g net carbs 18g fat 34g protein 8g fiber 24g sugar

Cheap, tasty, not gritty. What more can you ask for from a protein powder?
This is the best protein powder I have tried this far. Its sweet and creamy, takes on flavors well, like adding a banana or a little sugar free pudding to the mix to change up the flavor. Using Orange Juice and a little almond milk to give you that Orange Julius kind of taste, its really pretty good for all kinds of fruits and flavor combinations. I even put fresh spinach in it and it still tastes wonderful! I highly recommend trying this brand... just keep an eye on the calories and protein content, they vary. 100-170 calories and 10-25 grams of protein. The price doesn't vary much though, so read the labels before purchasing, particularly if you are looking for high protein supplements. The chocolate is really good too!
