Childhood Favorite found!
Yep .... finally, after looking since about 1970 or so, I found it. My mother served this to me many days in the 40's and I have never forgotten that taste .... with bacon and a nice piece of well-done toast. Like many other reviewers, I had given up on finding it again. It literally just disappeared. The story was a confused one, apparently about some kind of family issue with the people who owned the orignal rights to the product. Never was clear. Anyway, it's now back on the market, and near as I can tell, is very much like the original Ralston-Purina product of so many years ago. Not quite the exact taste I remembered (I think it's slightly less of a 'nutty' flavor than I recall!), but my eighty-plus-years-old taste buds ain't the same either. In any case, this is close enough to be very enjoyable. Is a welcomed substitute to vary breakfast diet from grits every day. Personally, don't care for the salt ingredient suggested .... just a spoon of sugar, well-mixed, does the trick. My order does not contain any foreign material mentioned in other reviews, as small, gritty white 'pellets'. Last comment .... the three 20 oz. packages, by the way ... is a LOT of cereal!! Just guessing, but suspect for a single person, at a third of a cup per serving, there's likely enough to last for a number of months!! YMMV!

Old time hot cereal
I grew up on "instant" Ralston in the 40s and 50s. Back then Ralston was a giant in the field, I guess, because every store carried several varieties. Their address was "Ralston Square, St Louis"...not so much anymore, after the corporate raiders tore America's corporations apart and ...well, I'd best not go there. Anyway this stuff tastes just like I remember. I add a 1/3-1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar and cook it a minute or 2 longer than the directions, and it comes out perfect.

This is the best hot cereal there is
We discovered Ralston cereal by accident. My sister sent us a Christmas gift of stolen bread, but the supplier sent Ralston cereal by mistake. We tried it, it has become a breakfast favorite, and we've reordered it twice. My married daughter likes it so well that she's been ordering it as well. I vaguely remember Tom Mix radio commercials for Ralston cereal in my childhood, but don't recall actually eating it then. Pleasant tasting, nourishing, can be topped with fruit or other syrups, and takes only a minute in the microwave. It has largely replaced instant oatmeal at our house.

The Ralston tastes just like I remember it. Easy to prepare in the microwave in just a few minutes. Great for a frigid winter morning.

A great find!
First, thanks to the good folks who sent their cooking hints when my batches turned to slime. I used most of the first bag trying and eating what I cooked which would slide off my spoon in sheets. I hate waste. I finally opened a second bag and compared it to the first. I cooked two servings from the new bag and it was fine, just like any other whole grain hot cereal. Maybe a little more quality control wherever Ralston is made is in order.

Childhood Favorite found!
Start the morning with Hot Ralston... "It's delicious and nutritious, Full of cowboy energy, Take a tip from Tom, Go and tell your Mom, Hot Ralston can't be beat!" Who am I to argue with Tom Mix? Yes, it's not the original product, but the much quicker cooking "instant" byproduct, but it's still a great change of pace from oatmeal.

Get this product any way you can!
I liked Ralstan for years and then it disappeared from the grocery shelves. I would occasionally look on the web but gave up. It was a pleasant surprise to find it again. Buying a minimum of three packages it a bit much. I may be the first OD on Ralstan. Nevertheless I have enjoyed having it for breakfast again. Same flavor I remember.

Good to Find Ralstan again
Ralston was one of my favorite hot cereals for decades and I was disappointed when it was discontinued. I am happy that another manufacturer has bought the rights to it and is again marketing it. I will continue purchasing it and eating it for breakfast.

Got it yesterday
Ralston Hot Cereal - 20 oz(3 pack). I used to love this cereal then it became hard to find. I love it, same great taste that I remember and fast and easy to make. Good for you too.

Again available after about ten years
What I love about Ralston cereal, it brought back memories of cold winters in Buffalo and I wanted something hot to eat. Ralston gave back those memories. Thank you for not throwing my favorite hot cereal away.

Ralston Hot Cereal - 20 oz(3 pack).
I had never heard of this before but saw some people talking about how good it was so I decided to try it. It really is as good as they said, by far the best hot cereal I’ve ever had. I add dried fruit as I cook it and butter and sweetener after it’s done. Delicious!
